Alex Michael Caruso was born on February 28, 1994, in College Station, Texas. He developed his basketball skills early on at A&M Consolidated High School, where he was a standout player, earning multiple honors including district MVP and All-State recognition. His senior year averages of 18 points and nine rebounds helped lead his team to the postseason.
Caruso continued his basketball journey at Texas A&M University, where he played four years for the Aggies. Over 137 games, he averaged 8.0 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.02 steals per game, finishing as the school’s all-time leader in assists and steals.
